Plasma HDTV vs LCD HDTV
Plasma HDTV projects images that are better in color contrasts but they reflect ambient lighting and it’s more difficult to get high resolution ones in smaller small screen sizes.
LCD HDTV on the other hand are weaker in the area of displaying black. However, LCD HDTV displays images that are still bright in color. LCD HDTV is better in the area of lighting as LCD HDTV is less reflective under ambient lighting and is more compatible with computers.
A typical 32-inch 720p plasma costs about $1000 whereas a 32-inch 720p LCD can costs $1100. The prices may change between different models.
The Different Screen Resolutions
There are basically the 720p, 1080p and the 1080i screen resolutions to choose from. If you are wealthier, you can opt for the Full HD 1080p which offers the best HDTV images that can offered.
If you are within a tight budget, obtain a 720p screen, it works just as well unless you are pickier about fine details.
Be prepared to pay about 50 to 100 percent more if you are getting the 1080p but 720p can satisfy most people.
HDMI Ports and HDCP
HDMI ports can be so called the “insurance” to your HDTV. It is highly recommended to have at least 3 of HDMI ports. These ports are needed to connect your HD DVD player, your game consoles to your HDTV.
What is pleasing to know is that you can buy an HDMI splitter for $100 from electronic shops.
HDCP is found in almost all HDMI ports. To be safe than sorry, it is best to check to make sure it will work on your HDTV. If not, you will find yourself watching DVD standard images.
