HDTV INFO 2 - Key Features and Connectivity Options

The most well-recevied, unique and high on HDTV ratings feature of a digital TV is that it can receive and portray both ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) Digital TV signals and NTSC (National Television Systems Committee) Analog TV signals according to consumer report on HDTV. While shopping and looking for HDTV, you may meet with terms like HDTV-Capable and HDTV-Ready. In other words, a digital TV that has the ability to display an HDTV quality image is a HDTV-Capable. However, it does not incorporate with HDTV receiver or tuner, hence, cannot catch a HDTV signal. In order to receive the HDTV signal, the digital TV requires a separate and independent HDTV receiver to be connected and installed to the set. Do not be too surprised, if the shopkeeper uses bombastic words like Set-Top-Box (STB) or Decoder. They are the names given to HDTV receiver or tuner and nothing else according to consumer report on HDTV.

HDTV-Ready is mostly used as a substitute of HDTV-Capable. However, you need to understand that HDTV-Ready does not equal HDTV-Capable. Before setting up and installing an independent HDTV tuner, HDTV info tip: one should always check whether it is attuned to the HDTV set and to the cable or satellite system being used. Furthermore, the independent HDTV tuner should  have the ability to receive Over-The-Air (OTA) television broadcasts according to the consumer report on HDTV.

Remember, “Digital ready" and "HDTV-ready" these two seemingly similiar terms do not essentially mean that your TV will receive and display digital HDTV programs. Before making the final purchase, HDTV info tip: always confirm and double check that the HDTV set you have pick shows real HDTV resolutions. In the market, there are some HDTV-Ready sets designed only to receive HDTV signals and obviously has low HDTV ratings, and thus cannot display pictures in HDTV Resolutions. So be wary of what you purchase. The HDTV info tip is simply to check, check and check again before purchasing!
